Brighthouse Financial offers a low-cost no-medical-exam term life policy available exclusively through the Policygenius marketplace.
Pros
Fast-tracked coverage with SimplySelect
Very affordable
Convertible options available
Cons
Only few term lengths available
No rate reconsideration
Brighthouse Financial offers competitive pricing, comprehensive coverage, and application decisions in as little as 24 hours, making it our overall best choice for no-medical-exam life insurance. There’s no catch: Prices are comparable to other companies (sometimes cheaper) and death benefits are available up to $2 million. Brighthouse has all the bells and whistles you need — such as riders that give you access to the death benefit early in case of an emergency.
And while pricing and turnaround time are the two most important factors for no-med shoppers, there are other upsides too. Certain lifestyle choices that might disqualify you from life insurance eligibility elsewhere aren’t a big deal with Brighthouse. Marijuana smokers, for example, can get some of the most competitive rates with Brighthouse SimplySelect.

Affordable for older applicants
No-medical-exam option available

Few online tools
Much like Brighthouse, Lincoln Financial offers affordable prices and robust coverage, and that competitive coverage is available to just about everyone. With a policy from Lincoln Financial, people with health conditions such as anxiety or asthma aren’t always doomed to higher-than-average rates. For a cost-effective policy that includes all the coverage options you need, Brighthouse or Lincoln are your providers.
You can get approved for a policy in as little as 30 minutes with Brighthouse Financial’s SimplySelect. The application process requires a brief phone interview with a Policygenius agent. The agent will issue a decision on that initial phone call, or within a few days if the agent has additional questions. Once you’re approved, you immediately get temporary coverage to protect you until you sign your paperwork and pay your first premium.

With competitive underwriting for a range of health conditions and strong financial and customer ratings, Mutual of Omaha is one of the best companies out there.
Pros
Competitive underwriting for a range of health conditions, like a history of cancer
No-medical-exam options for older applicants
Strong financial and customer ratings
Cons
Policies are more expensive than the average
Slow turnaround time
For people over age 60, Mutual of Omaha offers two no-med options. Its Term life Express policy is best for healthier seniors and offers no-med term life insurance to applicants up to age 70 — a higher age limit than many competitors — with limits on maximum term length and death benefits over age 60.
Its Living Promise policy is better for people with serious medical conditions and offers no-med whole life insurance, also known as final expense or burial insurance. Burial insurance rates are much higher and coverage amounts are much lower compared to no-med term insurance.
In addition to being one of our best overall picks for no-med insurance, Brighthouse Financial is also our pick for young adults age 25 and up. Brighthouse SimplySelect offers low-cost, same-day, no-medical-exam coverage for qualifying applicants. For newlyweds or young families, we recommend purchasing term life insurance with Brighthouse, which will fully match spousal coverage amounts.

One of the biggest perks of a no-med policy from Foresters Financial is the riders automatically included in your policy. A Your Term policy comes with typical riders like the accelerated death benefit rider and less common riders, like one that pays an extra benefit if you die in an accident while a passenger on a plane, bus, or train. Other riders include one that will cover some family health expenses after a natural disaster and one that triggers a donation to charity from Foresters when the death benefit is paid out.

If included perks are a priority, Mutual of Omaha also offers uncommon riders in its Term Life Express policy. In addition to an accelerated death benefit rider, you’ll get riders that waive premiums for six months if you become unemployed or if your primary residence sustains $25,000 or more of damage, and another that pays an extra benefit if you die while a passenger on a plane, bus, or train — all at no added cost. Note that Mutual of Omaha offers lower coverage amounts (up to $300,000) than Foresters Financial’s no-med term policy.

Transamerica offers affordable rates for every age group, former smokers, and people with common health conditions.
Pros
Competitive rates for term life insurance
No medical exam for people under a certain age or coverage amount
Former smokers may be eligible for lower rates
Cons
Uneven customer experience
Most policy changes require a paper form
Once upon a time, no-medical-exam life insurance was reserved for the young and healthy. But Transamerica’s no-med coverage is available to people of various age groups and health profiles. In fact, of all the companies we looked at, Transamerica has the fewest restrictions on eligibility for no-medical-exam policies and offers no-med coverage to older applicants than most other carriers.
Older applicants up to age 70 who apply for a policy with less than $100,000 in coverage won’t need to undergo a medical exam. Healthy, younger applicants under age 60 won’t need a medical exam for coverage under $250,000. The turnaround time for application approval is fast, too: about two weeks.
