A definition of open enrollment period.
The Open Enrollment Period is the annual period when people can shop for and buy health insurance on the Marketplace. Open Enrollment for 2019 starts on November 1, 2018 and ends on December 15, 2018. If you do not buy or re-enroll for health insurance during the Open Enrollment Period, you will not be able to purchase health insurance for 2019 (unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period later that year).
