A definition of Medicare.

What you need to know

Medicare is the federal insurance program for seniors and people on disability for two or more years. Medicare Part A provides hospital coverage; Part B provides coverage for outpatient care (doctors, lab tests, durable medical equipment); and Part D provides prescription drug coverage. If you've worked for 40 quarters (10 Years), or you're on disability, you get Part A for free, while everyone pays for Part B. Part D premiums are typically included in your drug plan premium, but some with higher incomes will pay an extra premium.
