If you are a Full-time service member on active duty, or in the Ready Reserve/National Guard and elected Servicemembers Group Life Insurance (SGLI), that coverage will end on the 120th day after separation or release from duty.If you are totally disabled on the date of separation or release, that coverage will end two years (2) to the day following your separation or release from duty.Part-time service members have different active and coverage periods, based on when placed into active duty or active duty for training.Service members have the option to convert SGLI into Veterans’ Group Life Insurance (VGLI) through the VA.
