How long does it take to buy life insurance?
In a previous post on why the life insurance application process takes several weeks, we went into our typically nerdy level of detail to explain fully, but the short version is this: It takes 3 to 8 weeks depending on how much time is needed to collect and review your health data. The more health conditions you have, the longer the process takes.
If you're not aware of this in the beginning, you might get frustrated as week three turns into week four, then week five, and so on, while the underwriter gathers the necessary data from your doctor. But take heart! Because when you look at the big picture, buying life insurance isn't so bad. It's much faster than having a baby elephant, for example!
Here are some other things you might consider doing, and how long it would take to do them.
(A couple of quick notes: You might want to wait until after you've bought your life insurance policy before you take up skydiving. And if you plan on carving your own Mount Rushmore, remember to account for any extra time you might need to find a mountainside to carve.)
